Social Issues Action Team 

About Us

Our primary areas of focus in 2022-2023 include gender equality and health equity. We continue to work with organizations throughout the state to advocate for Medicaid Expansion passage and for women’s reproductive rights.  We continue to advocate for passage of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) in North Carolina as well as in the US Senate through SJR6.  We are collaborating with multiple organizations to raise awareness of the need for ERA ratification in NC and its publication to our US Constitution. 
 We monitor and respond to local and regional women’s issues as they arise.

Current Program Goals

  • Advocate for passage of Medicaid Expansion in NC by educating the public, meeting with legislators, and promoting partnering organization events. 
  • Advocate for passage of single payer healthcare in US by working with partnering organizations across the country, amplifying their message, and providing educational opportunities in the need for same. 
  • Advocate for ratification of the ERA in NC and publication in the US Constitution by working with partnering organizations. 
  • Participate in community outreach to address local women’s issues. 
  • Monitor and respond to local and regional women’s issues as they arise
